The current PBL building was completed in 2000.

In 1972 Martin Spalding founded Northview Biosciences.  Pacific BioLabs was founded in 1982 as Northview Pacific Labs (NVP), the West Coast division of Northview Biosciences, Inc.

CRO Supporting the Growth of Biotech

NVP was opened to help Northview better meet the needs of the fledgling biotech industry, to serve Northview’s California clientele, and to offer animal science services for Northview’s national and international clients. NVP operated for 18 years in its original facility in Berkeley, CA. In 2000, the company moved their operations to a new purpose-built facility in Hercules, CA.

In 2006, the Northbrook, IL and Spartanburg, SC facilities of Northview Biosciences were sold to SGS. Northview Pacific was spun out as an independent entity and renamed Pacific BioLabs, retaining the same family ownership as when it was Northview Pacific Labs.

To further expand its capabilities and better serve the pharma, biotech, and medical device sectors, Pacific BioLabs purchased Bay Bioanalytical Laboratory in 2012. The acquisition added analytical chemistry and bioanalytical capabilities to PBL’s existing in vivo and microbiology services.

Pacific BioLabs continues to grow and support the life science industries, and continues to be The Service Leader in Life Science Testing.
