AATCC Textile Tests are used to evaluate the efficacy of antibacterial finishes added to textiles and fabrics by challenging the finishes with various bacterial strains. With modifications, materials not in fabric form may also be tested.

Using AATCC Method 147, swatches of test (treated specimen) and control (untreated specimen) textile materials are tested qualitatively for antibacterial activity. Those materials demonstrating antibacterial activity are then evaluated quantitatively (AATCC Method 100) by inoculating swatches of material with test organisms. After incubation, bacteria are eluted from the swatches by shaking them in a neutralizing solution. The number of bacteria present in solution is determined, and the percent reduction of the bacterial population is then calculated.

Pacific BioLabs can test a wide range of textiles for antibacterial activity according to AATCC Method 147 and AATCC Test Method 100.

Please contact us for the specific amount of textile necessary for test purposes.
